Hallelujah! 2020 is coming to an end! As crazy as the year has been, it has been significant for good reasons too. The Great Awakening is upon us, and the world is shifting in a new positive direction. It might not always feel like it, but trust, it is! Now is the time to ring in the New Year right, and these simple rituals for spiritual and mental wellness will help you do that.

Make a Dream Jar
Many thanks to The Awakened State, for this gem of an idea! On small pieces of paper, write down dreams, goals and experiences you want to achieve over the next year, and put them in your jar. Write down empowering affirmations, and put them in your jar. Write gratitude for your future accomplishments, so you can manifest them into existence, and put them in your jar! Every day take one out and truly, completely visualize the feeling of achieving it. Focus on the limitless possibilities! When you pull out an affirmation, use it to set intentions and empower your day.
This is a beautiful and amazing way to make a routine of spiritual wellness, manifesting intentions & goals, and empowering your day to day life!
Create a Vision Board
On the flip side of it, create a vision board. Glue pictures of goals, destinations, lifestyles, quality time, career goals, and more, onto a poster board or pin on a bulletin board! Hang it up somewhere you can see it every day. Make it a point to gaze at it in wonder, imagining all of it becoming reality. Focus on that day after day, and see it already happening. Another step towards manifesting it!
Positive Power Questions
Ask yourself pivotal questions to close out your year and shift forward into new one. List your top 10 accomplishments of the year. List your top 10 disappointments (then see above and burn that!). What have you learned about yourself? How have you changed over the last 365 days? How do you want to change over the next 365 days? Break down goals into smaller steps, even with deadlines to work towards, so you don’t get overwhelmed. What are you grateful for? How have your relationships evolved? Is there anything you’ve been tolerating that you’re ready to be done with? Name something that was challenging but resulted in tremendous growth? If nothing like that happened, is there a way you can challenge yourself like that in the new year? If you could go back in time, what would you tell yourself on this day a year ago?
Burn the Bad
Make a list of anything you’re ready to let go of and release, that you don’t want to carry into the New Year. Emotional baggage, toxic relationships, stress, fears, you can even add things! Write it all out, and when midnight strikes (or anytime, it doesn’t really matter), take it outside, burn it and send the ashes up into the sky to be blown away, freeing you for your positive intentions. If you have a space to safely make a fire, and also burn any items you may have wanted to include, go ahead and do that too!
Anything else that comes to mind too. Get creative!! Be sure to celebrate your successes!
Forgive! Forgive! Forgive!
Even more powerful than so many positive things we can list here is forgiveness! Make peace with the enemy within and the enemy outside. Forgive yourself for your faults and mistakes. Forgive anyone else who you’ve had words or tension with. Anger, resentment and blame slowly poison you from the inside out too. Then release it and move on. Whether you physically move on, or just put the deeds in the past. We are all human and deserve understanding and compassion. (Well most of us. I must make an exception for sociopaths. But everyone else!) Now see yourself from a place of strength, even for the ability to be self-aware and compassionate with yourself!
Empowering Word Choice
I really love this suggestion too, also from The Awakened State: Pick a word for your new year. Define the theme of your brand new year with an empowering word. Focus on the energetic vibration that word makes you feel and manifests into your life.
Here are some suggestions: Transformation, Peace, Joy, Abundance, Extraordinary, Fearless, Powerful, Change, Prosperity, Unconditional Love, Invincible, Empowered! and many more! What are your favorite adjectives or nouns? Pick your word, or words, and post them up for you to see too!
Give Thanks!
Gratitude is tremendously important! Take the time to do any or all of these things: Write a list of gratitude for your whole life. Write thank you notes to key people in your life, in any capacity. You can even surprise them with compliments or generosity. Start blessing all of your food before you eat. Energy medicine is real! What you put in you, creates health and happiness pouring out of you, and simply blessing that food creates miracles in your body. Bless your money before you spend it too, as a positive way to attract more to you! If blessing your food can create health, then blessing your money can create wealth! Thank your Spirit team for whatever you want to manifest in the New Year…love, abundance, vacation, anything!
Bring in Prosperity
Kripalu has a very specific prosperity ritual I’m going to outline for you just like they said it. Have a bowl of coins sitting outside your front door, and the first time you come home after 12am on the 1st, bless them (or pray over them) for everything you want in the New Year, every big goal. Then toss them inside your home and bless them again. Leave them for 48 hours and then give them away as a symbolic gesture of trust and generosity, because you always have what you need. Focus on the gratitude for the manifestation of these blessings into your life already.
Meditate
Take some time right before and going into the New Year (although again, exactly when isn’t a huge deal if you can’t) to meditate and connect with your Higher Self, and perhaps also the Higher Self of your Beloved, whether you’ve met them or not. You can listen to a guided meditation on gratitude, abundance, or attracting love into your life. Perhaps also releasing the past. Or for those more adept at meditation, free flow it and let Spirit guide you!
Be sure to visualize at the beginning, grounding yourself to both Mother Earth and Source (as above, so below), and releasing any negative baggage. See it leaving you with every breath, and either watch it wash down the drain (water is a psychic conductor!) or watch it blow away. Then do an energy check-in through each chakra. Lastly call in protection from whoever you connect with, Archangels, Spirit Guides, Jesus, God, etc. See a golden light around yourself blocking out the bad and keeping in the good. Then really get into your deeper meditative work.
Cleanse & Clear
Again, on the flip side of it, focus on some healing work. If you can’t do reiki on yourself, listen to chakra cleansing, reiki, or other healing videos on YouTube. There are so many to choose from! Put the video on, lay back and allow the sound healing to flow through you. Just be careful! The tingling may put you to sleep, so if you want to watch the ball drop, be aware of that and set a timer.
12 Days = 12 Months
Start the beginning of the year right if you want to start making positive shifts and changes in your routine and priorities. To some, the first 12 days represent the 12 months of the year, so they focus on doing something each of those days to represent the changes they want to make throughout the year. For example, if you want to focus more on charity, spend a day volunteering. If you want to advocate for a cause, use a day to start educating yourself on it. This is a great time to start defining for yourself how you are going to go about making these shifts in your life.
Train Yourself to Expect the Unexpected
What a great reminder from The Design Coach. Life is always full of surprises. Many times Spirit will bring detours into our life for a reason. That can be hard to understand when we’re going through it, especially when it is a challenging detour, but it’s almost always for a reason that hindsight will later prove true. So make a list of all the surprises the last year gave you, and focus on accepting all the good and bad from each because lessons are always catalysts for growth, while also preparing for whatever else Spirit may have in store next!
I hope this list helps you welcome in the New Year with peace and happiness, looking forward to your future! Life is too short for regrets or what ifs. Embrace a new beginning and take a leap of faith!
